Transitions of Indiana is removing the mystery behind this hair restoration process with a new video featuring a client named Bryan. Watch the above video to see Bryan's non-surgical hair restoration procedure from start to finish.

Bryan began losing his hair in his early 20's and would often feel self conscious when coworkers would comment on his bald spot. As time went on, Bryan decided that hair restoration was something he needed to try. His sister actually called Transitions of Indiana initially to schedule a free consultation for him. Upon arrival, Bryan felt comfortable and was impressed with the courteous and knowledgeable staff. They discussed available options then formulated an action plan for a non-surgical solution called Sensigraft™.

As mentioned in the video, once a client has chosen a non-surgical option such as Sensigraft™, the staff then will work with him or her on matching their unique hair type, color, and hairline situation. When the customized hair replacement system is ready, the client is called back to Transitions of Indiana to receive the Sensigraft™.

For the client, the process is extremely easy. It is not much different than having a hair cut at a salon. A technician will conduct any final measurements or adjustments of the client's scalp and custom hair system to determine the perfect fit. A safe adhesive is then applied to the scalp and hair system, then the Sensigraft™,  is placed and adhered to the client's scalp. This hair is then able to be cut and styled however the client desires. For Bryan, he chose a trendy look with his hair short on the sides and longer on top. It's that simple. No smoke, no mirrors, just a Non-Surgical Hair Restoration solution that appears completely natural and is every bit as versatile as the client's original hair. Each procedure is conducted by an experienced technician in the Transitions of Indiana office. There is no pain, no discomfort, and no need to worry about the results appearing unnatural or less than desirable.

Today, Bryan is a lot happier with his appearance and feels like a new person. There are believed to be several causes of hair loss: genetics, disease, environment, pregnancy and more. However one cause that many people don’t realize is that your prescription medication may be a contributing factor. There is a long list of commonly prescribed prescription drugs that may cause temporary hair loss, trigger male and female pattern baldness and may even cause permanent hair loss. To read the full list click here. There are two types of drug-induced hair loss that can occur: Telogen Effluvium and Anagen Effluvium.

Our hair goes through growth cycles. One of these phases, the anagen phase, is the time in which the hair grows, usually lasting 3-4 years. The phase is then followed by the telogen phase where our hair “rests”, which lasts around three months. After this phase is over, the hair falls out and new hair grows in to replace it. Prescription drugs that can cause hair loss interrupt this cycle of hair growth.

The most common type of interruption results in Telogen Effluvium. This is when the hair falls out because the medication causes it to enter the telogen phase earlier than it should. For this type of hair loss it typically takes 2-4 months after taking the medication for hair to start falling out.

Anagen Effluvium is when the medication stops hair from growing during the anagen phase. It prevents the matric cell from dividing normally and producing new hairs. This type of hair loss can cause the majority of hair on the head to fall out and occurs anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks after taking the medication. It can also cause the loss of body hair like your eyebrows and eyelashes.

Hair loss and the amount of hair loss however is affected by several factors and not all medications that can cause hair loss will affect your hair. The dosage size and how long you take the medication are a couple factors that can affect the results of your hair loss. There are also some drugs that your body may be less sensitive to than others which can affect your hair loss. In some cases medications that are said to cause hair loss may cause it indirectly. The prescription Lithium is known to sometimes cause thyroid problems and thyroid problems can trigger hair loss.

You may not have been informed that your prescription could cause hair loss so it’s important to read the complete list of the drug manufacturer’s warnings and do your own research about possible side effects. Talk to your pharmacists about your medication and ask them for a list of possible side effects before you fill a prescription. If you find that your drug may cause hair loss you can try talking to your doctor if they can suggest an alternate medication that doesn’t list hair loss as a possible side effect.
