It’s no secret that men tend to lose their hair quicker than women. There are approximately 35 million men in the U.S. that experience hair loss. At Transitions of Indiana, we treat men suffering from alopecia or male pattern baldness on a daily basis. Through various non-surgical procedures such as Laser Hair Therapy, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Ceasare Ragazzi CNC®, we are able to stop the effects of thinning or balding hair and give men the hair they desire with natural looking results. Let’s discuss some of those procedures.

Laser Hair Therapy
Laser hair therapy is a proven solution to keeping your existing hair for a longer period of time and to help you grow new hair. This solution is ideal for men who have noticed signs of hair loss early on, and want to help further hair loss. What this treatment of low level “cool lasers” into your scalp increases blood flow and the supply of nutrients to bring hair follicles out of a dormant stage and makes the hair thicker, healthier and more vibrant. Patients will sit under a machine for 20 minutes or so while the lasers do all the work!

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
Another break-through in the field of non-surgical hair restoration is PRP therapy available at Transitions of Indian. This procedure is clinically proven to restore hair, and stop thinning hair as well. PRP is a process where a patient’s blood is drawn and then placed into a centrifuge where plasma is separated from the blood and combined with ACell, which is then administered into a patient’s thinning areas to further activate cellular activity and new growth. This treatment is often used in conjunction with laser hair therapy.

CNC® Cesare Ragazzi
Often labeled one of the best non-surgical hair restoration solutions in the world, CNC® Cesare Ragazzi is the latest in 3D printed hair replacement. This is ideal for patients who have experienced significant hair loss and are not a candidate for surgical hair restoration. The CNC® Cesare Ragazzi process starts with computer mapping of one’s scalp to create a prosthesis that is designed to fit the exact contour of one’s skull and scalp. The prosthesis is sent off to have unprocessed hair individually placed into the membrane and then it is non-surgically grafted onto the patient’s scalp before it goes through a final styling by professionals. After this treatment, patients are able to expose their new hair to all activities including swimming and high impact sports.

Male pattern hair loss is a very common condition affecting men of all ages. Usually it is related to genetics and male sex hormones, following a pattern of a receding hair line and thinning hair on the crown of the head. Male pattern hair loss affects at least 50% of men at some point in their lives, and possibly as many as 80% by the age of 70.  Why does this happen? Baldness occurs when hair follicles shrink over time; as a result the person attains shorter and finer hair.

Some people embrace it, while others seek to change this fate. Oddly enough, although it is not verbally spoken, most people feel a full head of hair has some significance. It's usually strength, virility, youth, and power. It seems to also take an emotional toll on men that have hair loss, such as feelings of frustration, depression, loss of self-esteem, social withdrawal, and even suicide.

There is a hair loss classification based on the severity known as the Hamilton-Norwood Scale, first introduced in the 1950s by Dr. James Hamilton and later revised by Dr. O'Tar Norwood in the 1970s.

The Hamilton-Norwood scale has seven types of classifications and several stages within those classifications. For example, within stage 5 there are three levels of progression including 5, 5A, and 5V, which show variations of a receding hairline with hair loss also in the crown of a man’s head.
